Irish American Baseball Hall of Fame Will Induct YES Network TV Personality

Bronx, NY (August 28, 2024) – The Irish American Baseball Society will induct Jack Curry into the Irish American Baseball Hall of Fame on August 30 at Yankee Stadium.

Curry, who is a TV analyst for the YES Network, will be inducted in a pregame ceremony on the field before the Yankees take on the visiting St. Louis Cardinals.

“Jack has been tremendously successful in all facets of baseball media,” said Irish American Baseball Hall of Fame founder Shaun Clancy. “He’s a best-selling author, an accomplished sportswriter, and an award-winning broadcaster. On top of that, he’s one of the hardest-working and nicest individuals in the game.”

Curry has won eight New York Emmy Awards for his work covering the Yankees for the YES Network. Prior to joining the YES Network, he covered baseball for The New York Times for two decades, first as the Yankees’ beat writer and later as the Times’ national baseball correspondent.

“Up above, my Mom’s Irish eyes are smiling,” said Curry. “This honor would have made her incredibly proud.”

Curry grew up in Jersey City, NJ. He is a graduate of Hudson Catholic Regional High School and Fordham University. His most recent book, “The 1998 Yankees: The Inside Story of the Greatest Baseball Team Ever,” chronicles the 1998 World Series Champion New York Yankees. In addition, he has co-authored books with former Yankees Derek Jeter, David Cone, Paul O’Neill.

Curry traces his Irish roots back to Donegal and Fermanagh. His great-grandfather on his mother’s side of the family, Hugh Dolan, was born in Donegal. On his father’s side of the family, his great-great grandfather, Edward Curry, hailed from County Fermanagh.

Curry is one of five inductees of Irish American Baseball Hall of Fame this year. The other inductees are former Bay Area baseball legend and former Yankees star Lefty O’Doul, Pirates manager Danny Murtaugh, MLB Network media personality Brian Kenny, and Hall of Famer Wade Boggs. The inductees were nominated and elected by members of the Irish American Baseball Society.
