Orioles legend Jim Palmer received his Irish American Baseball Hall of Fame plaque this weekend! The presentation was made by IABHOF Founder and President Emeritus Shaun Clancy in Tampa!
Jim Palmer’s biological parents, Michael Geheran and Mary Ann Moroney, were Irish immigrants from County Leitrim and County Clare. Palmer, who was adopted at birth, only learned his parents identities in 2018.
Over the course of his 19-year career, Palmer won 268 games, struck out 2,212 batters, and posted an impressive 2.86 ERA! He was inducted into Cooperstown in 1990 and he was elected to the Irish American Baseball Hall of Fame in 2023!
