Bio: Timothy John Keefe was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on New Year’s Day, 1857. His parents, Patrick and Mary, hailed from County Cork.

Keefe, whose positive disposition earned him the nickname “Smiling Tim,” once tossed a 1-hitter and a 2-hitter in both games of a doubleheader. During his career he ranks #10 all-time with 342 wins, including wins in a record 47 different ballparks!

When he retired, Keefe’s 2,564 strikeouts were the highest in baseball history. Keefe was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1964.
