The Irish Wolfhounds Baseball Club

The World's First All-Irish Baseball Club

THE WORLD’S FIRST ALL-IRISH BASEBALL CLUB

The Irish Wolfhounds Baseball Club was formed in 2023 to prove that Ireland has enough talent to get to the World Baseball Classic and Olympics. The Wolfhounds includes players who are WBC-eligble.

WHAT DOES WBC-ELIGIBLE MEAN?

A player is WBC-eligible if he qualifies to represent Ireland in the World Baseball Classic. Under WBC rules, a player must qualify for citizenship in the country they play for.

ARE WOLFHOUNDS PLAYERS IRISH CITIZENS?

To play for Ireland in the World Baseball Classic, Olympics, or other international competition, a player must have, or qualify to obtain, Irish citizenship. The Wolfhounds roster includes players who are Irish citizens, or are qualified to obtain Irish citizenship.

WILL THE WOLFHOUNDS PLAY IN THE WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC?

The Irish Wolfhounds Baseball Club is not the Irish National Baseball Team (aka Team Ireland). However, several Wolfhounds players are, or previously were, members of Team Ireland and could represent Ireland in the World Baseball Classic.

WHY AREN’T ALL WOLFHOUNDS PLAYERS ON THE IRISH NATIONAL BASEBALL TEAM?

Some Wolfhounds players are members of the Irish National Baseball Team. Others have are hoping for a fair opportunity to try out for the team. To learn more about the unfair quota system that is preventing many Wolfhounds players from receiving a fair opportunity to represent Ireland, click here.

THE IRISH AMERICAN BASEBALL SOCIETY

The Irish Wolfhounds Baseball Club is a project of the Irish American Baseball Society (IABS). The IABS is a non-profit organization with a mission to celebrate the Irish impact on baseball history while supporting the next generation of Irish baseball players.
