Earlier this month, Irish American Baseball Society member Simon Butterworth won the 75-79 age division at the Ironman race in St. George, Utah! Simon is now the #1 ranked triathlete in his age division!

Simon’s father, Clive Butterworth, brought baseball to Ireland when he started the Tramore Sea Lions in 1958. The game quickly grew, spreading to Waterford and Dublin and Clive even hosted a team from the US Air Force at the Walsh Memorial Park in Waterford!

And Simon was there for all of it! (BTW, Simon is the catcher in these photos). Great job, Simon! ☘️⚾
