Orioles Teammates Receive Awards from Irish Baseball Hall of Fame

Shaun Clancy of the Irish American Baseball Hall of Fame was recently in Sarasota, FL, to present awards to Orioles stars Ryan O’Hearn and Ryan Mountcastle.

O’Hearn, who traces his Irish roots back to Cork and Limerick, was the recipient of the first Diaspora Award.

Mountcastle, who traces his Irish roots back to Donegal, received the “I Didn’t Know He Was Irish Award.”

About the Diaspora and “I Didn’t Know He Was Irish” Awards

The Diaspora Award is given to players who have reached the highest levels of the sport. The “I Didn’t Know He Was Irish Award” is awarded to players, coaches, media personalities, and executives who have Irish roots but don’t have an Irish surname. The award is named after Duke Castiglione and Pete Caldera!
