We’re Teaming Up with Breaffy GAA Rounders in County Mayo!

The Irish American Baseball Society is teaming up with Breaffy GAA Rounders, to support youth rounders clubs in County Mayo!

We’re delighted to announce that we are once again partnering with the Breaffy GAA Rounders in County Mayo! We’ll be providing funding and coaching support to their youth rounders clubs.

Rounders is a bat-and-ball game with many similarities to baseball, that is commonly played by children in Ireland. It is one of the four indigenous Irish games governed by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), along with Hurling, Gaelic Football, and Handball.

The partnership between the Irish American Baseball Society and Breaffy GAA Rounders is part of the Irish Youth Baseball program, which provides funding and coaching support to youth baseball and rounders clubs throughout Ireland.

Speaking of County Mayo, our researchers have traced the Irish roots of many major league players and coaches back to County Mayo, including Hughie Jennings, Joe Mauer, and Danny Murtaugh!
