Joe McEwing Leads Irish Baseball Fan Rally in New Jersey

Baseball fans and members of the Irish community came together for the Irish Baseball Fan Rally.

Former major leaguer Joe McEwing led an Irish Baseball Fan Rally at Killarney’s Pub in Hamilton, NJ, on Sunday, June 28. McEwing, who played for the Mets and Cardinals, signed autographs and rallied fans around the idea of an MLB Series in Ireland.

The event was hosted by the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Irish American Baseball Society and sponsored by Hinch Irish Whiskey. Baseball fans from across the region stopped by for an afternoon filled with featured guests, great conversation, and plenty of Irish hospitality.

Adding to the excitement, the beloved Trenton Thunder mascot stopped by to greet fans, pose for photos, and bring extra energy to the celebration.

The rally also included a special toast commemorating America’s upcoming 250th Anniversary, recognizing the enduring contributions of Irish Americans to the nation’s history and the game of baseball. The moment served as a fitting reminder of the important role that community organizations, traditions, and shared experiences continue to play in celebrating both Irish heritage and America’s national pastime.

Before the main festivities, members of the Irish American Baseball Society gathered for an exclusive pre-game meetup at the Babe Ruth League headquarters, located just around the corner from Killarney’s. The members-only gathering provided an opportunity to connect, share stories, and celebrate the organization’s mission of preserving and promoting the rich history of Irish Americans in baseball.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees enjoyed lively conversation, renewed old friendships, made new connections, and celebrated the unique bond between Irish culture and baseball. Thanks to the support of Hinch Irish Whiskey, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Irish American Baseball Society, Joe McEwing, the Babe Ruth League, and the Trenton Thunder, the Irish Baseball Fan Rally was a tremendous success.

We look forward to seeing everyone again at future Irish American Baseball Society events as we continue to celebrate the people, stories, and traditions that have shaped the game we love.
